Great Family Activities in La Tania and Courchevel

Staying in the Three Valleys will, of course, offer you some great skiing; however that's not all to consider when choosing your holiday ski chalet. La Tania and the nearby resort of Courchevel can offer much more than skiing and après ski. Make sure you schedule some time to enjoy the other activities on offer outside the doors of your chalet – La Tania awaits!

Festivals and Competitions in Courchevel

All children love fireworks and they will be in Seventh Heaven if your stay in the Three Valleys coincides with The International Pyrotechnic Art Festival, which takes place throughout February and March in Courchevel. Seeing fireworks in this environment is truly breath taking, with the unique combination of ice and fire. The festival also includes a beautiful torch lit procession of ski instructors making their way down the mountain.

There are many events over the Christmas and New Year period, and these include a showcase of the best French ice skaters at The Christmas Ice Skating Gala. For fans of snowboarding, World Snowboard Day is on the 22nd December and you will be able to attend many events and exhibitions. Also held on this weekend are the Men's Slalom and Giant Slalom in the Stadium Emilie Allais.

Christmas Day itself is always magical when spent in a snow-covered landscape. What could be better than listening to carols whilst sipping a glass of mulled wine? There are street parades, markets and live music held throughout the resort. All of these events mentioned above are held in Courchevel, although you don't need to venture too far from your chalet – La Tania is only a kilometre away.

For something a little different, the BMW Snow Polo Masters is the highest snow polo tournament in the world and is held in Courchevel at the end of January. The horses are specially trained to compete on snow and the best Argentinian, French and European players will be taking part. There will, of course, be the glamour that is always associated with polo, with plenty of champagne flowing.

The genteel sport of curling takes on a whole new personality when you change it to human curling! If you're brave or foolhardy enough to have a go you can try your hand from February to April. Being propelled across the ice whilst lying on your stomach may not be everybody's idea of fun, but it's certainly different.

If you happen to be in the Three Valleys during the Winter Olympics all the games will be shown at the Salle de La Croisette in Courchevel. For a more local flavour, from mid-February until the beginning of March you will have the chance to see some wonderful displays put on by the skiing instructors of the Ecole du Ski Francais during the Snow and Fire Ski Show. As well as demonstrations of winter sports there will be firework displays, so it makes a great event for all the family. Another great activity for the kids to have a go at is snow sculpture, and evenings of fun are put on at different times from January to March. All the children can have a go and there will be an awards ceremony for the best creation and hot chocolate to keep everyone warm.

Finding activities to please the whole family can sometimes be a challenge, but this wonderful resort is a wise choice for the location of your holiday ski chalet. La Tania is very close to Courchevel where you will find the above activities that will satisfy all tastes – and plenty more besides.
